During the tour we visit the following places.
Total Duration: around 7 Hours
Although Uçhisar Castle is dated between the 4th and 1st centuries BC, the most prominent ruins belong to the Roman and Byzantine periods. Since the castle is one of the highest points of Cappadocia, it was used for defense purposes. We will start our tour with the beautiful view of the castle.
Zelve was first inhabited by humans during Neolithic times (around 10,000 BC). Over the centuries it was occupied by different civilizations, including Hittites, Assyrians, Persians, Romans and Byzantines. During these times it was used as both a settlement and a place of worship. The earliest remains date back to 8th century BC – making it one of the oldest known human settlements in Asia Minor.
We will have the opportunity to see the Love Valley, which contains the most prominent examples of fairy chimneys, from a point that dominates the entire valley. The visual show of the mushroom-shaped, elongated fairy chimneys in the valley is really worth seeing.
Known as Venessa, Zuwinassa and Ouenasa in history, Avanos is famous for its achievements in handicrafts. The pottery making here is an art transfer that has been going on since the Hittites.
In order to see the art of pottery dating back to 2000 BC and the Hittites, we will go to the workshop, which will host us with its team of the best masters in the region. We will examine step by step how these beautiful handicrafts are made and what stages they go through.
Another location that hosts the most beautiful examples of fairy chimneys, Paşabağ is also known as the Valley of the Priests. While walking among the mushroom-shaped fairy chimneys, we will also visit the churches in the valley.
Devrent Valley, also known as Imagination Valley, is a place where fairy chimneys of many different shapes and colors are found. Here you will have to work your imagination hard. Everyone compares the fairy chimneys here to different things according to their imagination, but there is a fairy chimney where everyone meets at a common point. Located in the middle of the valley, this fairy chimney looks like a camel and presents a beautiful view.
It is a panoramic point located at the entrance of Ürgüp and dominating the whole town. When viewed from the top, among the many fairy chimneys that are shorter than the fairy chimneys in Göreme and that have not yet completed their formation, three adjacent fairy chimneys, side by side and higher than the other rock formations in the valley, add color to the panorama. Because of the legendary stories, this spot is called the Three Beauties.
The history of Kaymaklı Underground City, some of which was built during the Hittite period, dates back to 3000 years ago. It has become an eight-storey venue as a result of its excavation and expansion in the Roman and Byzantine periods. Kaymaklı Underground City, which contains all the facilities that a community can live in temporarily, contains structures such as living rooms, food warehouses, water wells and ventilation tunnels connected by narrow tunnels.
