ABOUT TASKINPASA MADRASAH
Taşkınpaşa Madrasah is located in the center of Taşkınpaşa Village, 20 kilometers south of Ürgüp, on the side of the Ürgüp-Soğanlı road. It is located in an area far from the mosque in the village. Based on the existing inscriptions of the two mausoleums in the courtyard of the mosque, it is dated to the middle of the XIV century by various researchers, with the same date as the mosque. After the restoration in 1997, only a large part of the portal of the madrasah, which was completely renovated, has preserved its originality.
The portal, which was built with smooth cut stone, was kept quite high and protruding from the body walls where rubble stone and coarse stone were used. The low-arched door, which is limited by two colonnades, is framed by five strips of different shapes from the outside. The shin band is decorated with a half Turkish knot, and the second strip behind the first strip on the outside. The third strip with den-dan decoration is followed by the thickest strip with vegetal decoration. In this strip, an eight-pointed star in the center and palmettes facing the center from four directions are formed by interlacing the curved branches. The chamfered last strip has a triple knit composition. Three panels appear above this arrangement. Two geometrically decorated panels on the sides flank the vegetal decorated frame on both sides, which includes the inscription plate, which is not in place today. On this arrangement, the presence of a row of hovels and palmettes on the corners draws attention. Although its cover has been completely destroyed, the masjid of the madrasa is located just to the right of the madrasa entrance, which is understood to have two floors from the stairs to the left of the entrance. The stone mihrab has survived in its original form. There are independent spaces around the rectangular planned open courtyard in the madrasah.
